CYPRESS
Cypress is one of the best building materials for exterior uses. What did Noah¡¯s Ark and the first doors of St. Peter¡¯s Basilica in Rome have in common? Legend has it that both were made of the durable wood we know as cypress. In fact, it¡¯s said that the doors of the original St. Peter¡¯s were more than 1,100 years old when the building was torn down and reconstructed in the 1500s. When it comes to recommending a product based on its strength and good looks, cypress is hard to beat. Cypress is a superior product to cedar because of the natural oil known as cypressine which allows cypress to be extremely resilient to both moisture and the occasional curious insect.
Atlanta Specialty Woods offers a large selection of cypress products. Our 1¡± x 6¡± v-joint is priced as a #2, but is remarkably clear and is offered in 8', 10', and 12' lengths. Cost is $0.75 per linear foot. Longer lengths available for $1.17 linear foot. We are also capable of filling even the most outrageous sizes in cypress timbers. We also offer pecky cypress and river - recovered cypress for the more discerning projects.
Cypress v-joint is a favorite for applying to ceilings inside and out. We have found that staining this product is the best choice to darken the color and enhance the grain which is so beautiful in cypress.
